As part of the London 2012 festival, the Inside Out festival in Dorset features an exhibition called Harmonic Fields, created by Pierre Sauvageot. The installation consists of 500 musical instruments, played by the wind. In his words, “We’re constantly bombarded with new noises, which amplify, until we no longer listen. Sounds from Harmonic Fields are quiet and come at their own pace, like waves on the seashore. It is music in its simplest, most primal form.” A really interesting idea, and if I manage to find train tickets that aren’t as ridiculously priced as usual I shall definitely be visiting. Harmonic Fields is open until 9 September, here is all the info.
